We are accepting boys and girls from K to 5th grade.
Cub Scouting is fun! No matter what grade you are in, first through fifth, it can be a blast. Do you like to learn by doing? This is just the place. You can learn to tie knots, set up a tent, shoot a bow and arrow (archery). Have you ever cooked a meal on a campfire? Sent a secret code to a buddy? Built a birdhouse? Played Ultimate frisbee? Hiked? Earn rewards for doing these things in Cub Scouts. Family camping and outdoors activities; ecology, local history and sports are the focuses of many of our Pack activities.
The pack is divided into smaller groups called dens. Each den has about six to eight scouts. All of the Cub Scouts in your den are in the same grade and may even go to the same school.
Developing the Child: Building life skills and self confidence is the core of our program. To do all this, young children have to have fun.
Family: We are a family oriented pack. All our Pack trips and events are open to the entire family.
Organization: Pack 247 is run by the parents. Unlike most packs, our chartering organization is us. “The group of citizens of Penn Valley” is our chartering organization and its board is made up of the parents of our cubs.
Meetings: During the 2022-2023 school year, we will meet primarily outdoors. Meetings are twice a month, Sundays at 1pm at the Penn Valley Elementary field closest to Margo Lane. In the winter, some meetings may be held indoors on Monday evenings in the Penn Valley Elementary cafeteria.
Camping: Our Pack does at least two camping trips a year. If you have never camped this is a great way to learn and get the entire family involved. “Tents, good food, and fun” describes our trips.
Other activities: Let’s just say we do a lot. Here is a list of some of the pack activities we have done in recent years:
